I have recently relocated from Brisbane to the Gold Coast region. I have worked in the disability support industry for over 10 years. I am passionate about assisting people to build skills, achieve their goals and live the most independent life they can. I have worked with clients with physical and learning difficulties, ABI and mental health. I also work as an Educator, looking after preps to grade 5 before and afters school care. My clients have varied from young children through to the elderly. I have experience training new staff in house procedures, therapy’s and social support, meal prep, medication administration, personal care, peg feeding, fluid bolus, bowel care, administering/changing stoma bags, seizure management and filing progress notes and documentation. The proudest achievements in my career include: assisting a client, who had been unable to step foot in the ocean for over 40 years, travel to and snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef; assisting clients to safely travel on world tours through Europe, Asia, America and the Caribbean. Witnessing the sense of pride these clients show after traveling abroad or the smiles they give flipping through the scrapbooks I made with them of their trips, gives me a sense of happiness and job satisfaction that no other job I have ever done will come close to. I am also a keen photographer, my work features heavily in the monthly newsletters delivered to the parents and guardians of Respite House clients. The newsletter serves as a great way to share the events and activities that clients participate in with their family and loved ones. As a community support worker, and an Educator I have a Certificate IV in Disability Service, Current first aid/asthma and anaphylaxis, Blue and Yellow card, I also have Comprehensive insurance on my vehicle. I am experienced, patient, approachable, adaptable, and reliable.
